8th Music+Sound Awards Open for 2019 Global Entries 


The Music+Sound Awards are back for another year, globally celebrating music and sound in film, TV and advertising.  Submissions can now be made, up until 29th March, via the Awards’ site www.masawards.com 

Anyone who has worked, in any capacity, on a project they feel has been significantly enhanced by the music or sound is invited to enter. 
 
There are categories for television and online advertising, feature films, short films, television programmes, title sequences, branding and trailers.  Each of these areas will be judged for: best original composition, best sound design, best sync, best re-record and best use of production music.  Work must have been first broadcast or released, or completed in the case of short films, between April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019.

Last year’s winners included: composer, HUGO DE CHAIRE, who won The Spitfire Audio Award for Best Original Composition in a Feature Film Score for his work on Crooked House; composers HANS ZIMMER, JACOB SHEA and DAVID FLEMING for The Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop who won Best Original Composition in a Television Programme Score for  Blue Planet II; sound designers OLIVER TARNEY and MICHAEL FENTUM who won The Krotos Audio Award for Best Sound Design in a Feature Film Score for their work on Alien: Covenant; and SKY UK, DOMINO PUBLISHINGand Music Supervisor PETE SAVILLE, who won Best Sync in a TV Programme for the use of MOSES SUMNEY’S‘Doomed’ in Save Me.
 
All entries are vetted by a panel of independent industry experts, who follow a stringent judging criteria, ensuring that the very best are awarded and held aloft. The rigorous judging standards are what make The Music+Sound Awards the most prestigious and eminent competition for the industries involved. 

This year the panel includes the likes of film composer LESLEY BARBER (Manchester By The Sea); ad / film composer GUY FARLEY; creative director ANDY CARROLL at THE ELEMENTS MUSIC; film sound designers OLIVER TARNEY and ALEX JOSEPH; ad sound designers MARK HELLABY at 750MPH; ITAMAR SHAFRIR, Senior Creative Manager in Advertising and Games at UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING; and REBECCA WILLIAMS, Head of Film at SAATCHI & SAATCHI. 2019 Music+Sound Awards’ Key Information


•       ENTRY WINDOW: 9thJanuary to 15th March 2019, with a two week extension at a higher fee, to 29th March 2019

•      ELIGIBILITY WINDOW: work must have been first broadcast or released with client approval, or completed, in the case of short films, between April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019

•       SUBMISSIONS: can be made via the awards site: www.masawards.com

•       ENTRY FEES (includes a £5 donation to charity partner, music therapists, Nordoff Robbinsand are in addition to VAT, where applicable)
