Developing a mobile app for your band

Why Your Band Needs an App

It’s no secret that the world of music has changed over the past decade. In fact, there’s no aspect of writing, recording, distributing and marketing music that hasn’t changed. Mobile Engagement With Applications

My relationship with my Blackberry is one of the most consistent and rewarding ones. I rely on my mobile device for operating nearly every aspect of my day from getting a map to my destination or texting my friends to let them know I will be late. Mobile devices govern many different aspects of a consumer’s life and interactions with the world they surround themselves with.

Because there is such an intimate bond between consumer and their mobile device, the mobile environment offers a new and exciting way for artists to engage with their fans. Fans interact with many of their social networking environments from the website’s native application to their device. With access portals for fans rapidly evolving with advances in technology, it is up to the artist’s to include these mobile engagement tactics in their digital strategies.

  • Over 1/3 of Facebook’s 900 million+ users also use Facebook Mobile.
  • Mobile internet usage will overtake desktop internet usage by 2014.
  • Mobile coupons get 10x the redemption rate of regular coupons.
  • 3 out of 5 internet searches are done with a mobile device.
  • 91% of mobile internet access is to socialize.
  • In March 2012, Smartphones were in use by 50.4% of consumers in the US.

As you can see, the popularity of mobile devices is currently on the rise! Keeping in line with our recent mobile theme, I wanted to present another mobile option to you this week. Last week we talked about Mobile Roadie’s free mobile ready website option. Mobile Roadie is also quite adept at making mobile apps. But have no fear, ReverbNation has been creating free/inexpensive solutions for independent musician’s since their inception. Here again they have come up with an affordable solution for mobile app creation. And ReverbNation can get you up and running with a customized app in 6 quick steps.
