Attention: Independent Music Business Owners - We are looking for both participants and mission partners to build a better music business.

From traditional to modern musicianship:

Our initiative is to advance and help the community upgrade from traditional musicianship, to modern musicianship.

Why now?

Lot’s of reasons… Mostly indie artists deserve it. But let’s keep it real simple at first and then go from there.

1) Music Creators Deserve the complete support and development to make their careers growth easier and more enjoyable.

We should do all what we can to ensure that they get what they need to do their job optimally.

If we don’t start paying creators what they’re worth to our now global culture… What’s going to happen?

Their is a cost, no one can afford it, but we’ll all pay for it one way or the other-until it’s resolved. No one wants that… All the while hard working creators all over the world are blindly taxed, skimped and stepped on, and given so little compensation that it makes doing their job-(which they actually love and enjoy doing-and will still do despite everything) so much harder for no good reason other than someone hasn’t thought about and designed a better way for them to get what they need to do what they’re born to do. That’s the reality.

2) The old system kinda sucked. Still kinda does. Too much confusion. We can do it better than what we were left to work with.

Taken a long time to piece together and connect the dots… But with your participation as an artist-or contribution as a mission partner-we’re there to be able to do it.

Philosophically, and congruent in my practice as well teaching principles (time tested and backed up repeatedly) it is my bet that doing this optimally will add the most value, to the most people, now and for furthest into the future.

The traditional music business model and the one sized fits all deal are a thing of the past.

We can do it better by simply making music with the development of new music and independent artist development.

The fact is that traditional music business and artist development strategies no longer cut it, and an upgraded approach is primed and ready to bloom.

Let’s ensure a better indie music experience starting with the Artists as well as their fans.

Gifts are given, not traded… And that is only done with the proper development and support for both creating and receiving those gifts.

If this already resonates with you-just go here and put your email address into the single box on that page-and we’ll be in touch.

If you want to know more… Let’s follow this rabbit hole and see if it goes a little further.

The famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky once said: “A good hockey player plays where the puck is; a great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.”

Is the traditional music industry dead?

Not dead. Just evolved. Their are certainly some traditions worth saving. The fact is that we aren’t only playing by new rules, we are playing an entirely new ballgame.

But the old rules of the traditional music business evolved into the new rules of this game we now play called modern music business.

The evolution of industry, knowledge, and technology boils our business model down into a custom fit combination of cashflow/funding sources, revenue streams, traffic strategies, operating principles, FEE structure for the lifestyle and career you are willing to work to achieve…

The massive amalgamation of manpower, tools, technology, touch points, and overhead now largely reduces down to an internet connected home recording studio and a few web service accounts.

The grassroots authenticated music experience, as we call it, is the name of the new game-and is a more sustainable way to both grow and scale any indie music business-as well as support the growth of the independent music industry-for the long haul.

It has been built from the ground up to lay a better structural foundation to provide independent artists with the real support and trusted guidance they need to navigate and grow their careers optimally.

More opportunity = more responsibility

Problem is that most indie artists are being stretched so thin, left with scarce available resources in the most abundant time on earth, and there’s still an outdated gatekeeper mentality…

It’s time to try something unconventional, non-traditional, and It will mean a better way for independent music-starting with the musicians and their fans-from now until forever.

Let’s call it the modern music business.

It starts with a better engine and a better driver.

The fact is that we’re operating new vehicles, and WE are operating those vehicles…

The traditional music business strapped an artist to the hood of an oversized gas guzzling SUV and left us flapping around in the wind at the mercy of too many forces outside of our control. The artist was the frontman for a corporate profit machine serving product to customers neither one knew the names of, in mass quantities.

This caused unnecessary risk with potentially long-term and often fatal consequences i.e bad deals, signing too early, losing rights to or control of her material without proper education and guidance to navigate, hurting her reputation with her fans. and on and on…

Though the artist was the talent that drove the ship, she made pennies on the dollar of an unsustainable business model that wasn’t even in her best interest…

You know, it makes sense if you don’t think about it.

But she didn’t find that out until later… Apparently no one told her.

Virtually every independent musician and music business owner needs, wants and deserves a more substantial quality of support as well as reward for being incredible content creators and the uniters of their tribe.

Today, the game has changed and their is a better way to grow a music career, and that starts with understanding the new game called the modern music business.

Our Mission - Build a better music business

To change the way artists think about their music careers, the way they develop and grow their music business, the way they connect and engage with their fans, and the way their fans experience independent music.

We stand at the presapous of the most exciting time in the history of the music industry.

The Modern Music Industry laid the foundation for the Artists Revolution which couldn’t have a sweeter taste of victory, or come at a higher price to eventually realize.

The modern music business is for us, by us. The indie musician and music business owner-as well as the supporting fans and patrons that directly allow us to do what we love-on our own terms.

But the Artists Revolution is at a tipping point, a blossoming point of maturity and capacity in the modern music industry. The difference between those who understand what that means, what the new rules are, and how to play the game like a pro - will be the difference between those who make it all the way to their musical paradise, (the lifestyle, income, creative freedom) and those who’ll struggle and suffer unable to gain the traction needed to breakthrough in the modern world.

Together, if we do this right, we can help educate, empower and enlighten indie artists by providing them the best training, resources, and support to grow their music businesses optimally.

It’s that time in the evolution of our industry that future generations will either studiously remark on with pride - or come to find and share disappointed opinions for how “if only they did this…” Then, our industry and the working middle class independent musician wouldn’t have been squeezed out of existence by a new middle man tech company that takes a large percentage of our brand’s income just to get heard, and pays us too little to get by and continue to do it.

Or the labels that are ready to swoop in and harvest the assets built by us the value/content creators without having to do or invest in the hard work of developing those assets or bettering the industry in any greater way or contributing on any larger scale.

No tech company, (large or small) no major label, no CEO, manager, or celebrity artist is going to put the music back into the forefront of music Business, or ensure the survival of the middle class musician.

Now is the time that independent artists, collectively, for the first time in history took total responsibility as the masters of their own careers, mastered their strengths, covered down on their weaknesses, designed their ideal lifestyles, and did so on their own terms.

That we paved a better more profitable path for the future of independent music for all parties concerned.

Or… NOT.

Today, too many emerging and established artists/musicians run sub-optimal career operations because they don’t understand the fundamentals of modern music business, and modern music marketing.

One of the first exercises we teach our clients and students is how to expand their perspective and start seeing through new lenses

There is no magic curtain.

Artists are the CEO’s of their music business, whether they ever sign a record or publishing deal, and breaking through and making it doesn’t mean what it once did in our industry.. In the modern music business, all you need is a loyal group of supporters to create your paradise, doing what you love full time-on your own terms.

Right?

So who ate my lunch?

The trickle down, top to bottom major label banks, mismanaged investments of funds and resources, the mass marketing starship ecosystem that’s left us with the messes we’re dealing with now. Bottom line, it’s up to us to properly prepare for the future of the modern music business to ensure we help develop great music and optimally support indie creators.

In our opinion the traditional music industry consciously devolved into obsolescense when it stopped putting what was best for the Artists and music industry long term, and forgot that developing artists was that little step that has to happen-which comes before the harvest.

Today we have a chance as an industry to step up before that is allowed to happen again and ensure the modern music business and indie musicians take the majority stake ownership of their content businesses.

To upgrade the mindset and approach that is critical to doing that requires different approaches than the ones that have been done traditionally, which led us to the evolution of paradigms and technology into a modernized music business.

From the ground up, a grassroots, bottom to the top approach is the only one that will sustain. And we’ve put our money where our mouth is and bet everything we had on it 12 years ago.

As a music business coach who firmly believes in the power of keeping things independent, natural, and of the highest value to indie musicians-i believe it is my proper course of due diligence based upon my position and vantage point in the market to lead and unite the forces for this initiative to build a better music business.

With the right mission partners and required resources we’ll do just that.

Together, we can advance and update the business models and help indie musicians better connect, lead, engage and unite their tribe using the modern toolset.
