The Rights Workshop Presents Artist Development Seminar Series: Make Music, Make Money

Series runs September 29-October 1, 2009

 

San Francisco — In response to the growing interest in music placement and promotion, The Rights Workshop is hosting Make Music, Make Money, a series of career development seminars for artists, musicians, composers and other content creators beginning Tuesday, September 29 through Thursday, October 1, 2009. Each Make Music, Make Money seminar will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Seminar attendees will learn about the mechanics of the music business and develop strategies to earn more money from their creative work. In each Make Music, Make Money session, panelists will address commonly asked questions about the rapidly changing music industry in a comfortable, artist-friendly environment.

 

“The music industry has changed so much over the last ten years that it is really important to know how to get your music out there and make money from it,” notes The Rights Workshop founder Brooke Wentz. “Make Music, Make Money will provide attendees with the added insights and expertise they need to win in a highly competitive market.”

Attendees can also choose to sign up for all three seminars which includes the industry mixer for $100.00 or $50.00 for students. Walk-in registration is permitted, subject to space availability and an additional fee of $5.  

Day one (September 29) kicks off with The Rights Workshop founder Brooke Wentz speaking on how to make money as a recording artist. Topics include major label recording agreements, 360 deals, SoundExchange, digital distribution and synchronization deals, AFofM agreements, and what to look for in an agent and manager.

Day two (September 30) will feature The Rights Workshop’s Director of Business Affairs, Maryam Soleiman, who will break down the “How-to’s” on making money from your songwriting, publishing and music production ventures by leveraging the many existing revenue opportunities in today’s marketplace. How to set up a publishing company and register with a PRO will also be discussed.

Day three (October 1) concludes the series and features The Rights Workshop’s Director of Licensing, Annie Lin, who will discuss how to get your music placed in TV and film productions. Attendees will be introduced to clearance terminology, how to price music, the terrain of licensing and placement companies.

Our music industry mixer will immediately follow the third Make Music, Make Money seminar on October 1 from 9:00pm to 11:00pm. All seminar series attendees are invited to attend. This will be a chance to mingle and network with industry professionals. As well as offer a chance to get to know The Rights Workshop even better.
