NEW YORK, NY (April 15, 2015) – Atlas Music Publishing have signed the Counting Crows to a global music publishing deal, as announced today by Jennifer Blakeman, Chief Creative Officer. The agreement covers the entire catalog (excluding the most recent album), and includes multiple hit singles and albums that have sold collectively over 20 million worldwide, including the Academy Award nominated single “Accidentally in Love” from the film Shrek 2.
With their intensely soulful and intricate take on timeless rock and roll, the Counting Crows catalog is a hit parade throughout their 20-plus-year career. Through the deal, Atlas Music Publishing will now administer such songs as “Mr. Jones”, “Accidentally In Love”, “Round Here”, “A Long December” and “Colourblind.”
“The Counting Crows have a legacy of writing hits centered around unforgettable storytelling, beautiful harmonies, superior musicianship, and of course Adam Duritz’s distinctive vocals but it’s also the deeper catalog that has all of us at Atlas really excited about our new partnership with the band. By exposing the depth and quality of not only the hits, but the gems within the catalog, songs like “Goodnight LA”, “Why You Should Come When I Call”, “Mercury” and “Insignificant” can speak to the leagues of loyal fans and also to a new generation of listeners,” said Jennifer Blakeman. “Additionally, Adam’s history of nurturing young talent falls directly in line with Atlas’ overall ethos….it is about the talent, not the buzz. Our entire staff embraces and celebrates the artistic ethic that Adam brings to the table and every department is thrilled to be representing Adam and the band’s music globally.”
Known as one of the most dynamic live bands performing today, Counting Crows are currently on a worldwide tour throughout 2015 performing songs from their extensive catalog.
