Hi Music Think Tank,

We are BBox Radio, a new community-powered platform and internet station broadcasting from NYC’s creative center: Brooklyn! Take a look at our Call for Entries — we’re asking everyone in and around the borough to help us reinvent radio! The idea is to create something new, expressive and decidedly LOCAL, yet global in reach.

We hope  you can help us spread the word! Visit BBoxRadio.com for more information and let us know if you have any questions. We’ll keep you tuned in.

Love,

BBox Radio

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 16, 2011

– BBox: Brooklyn’s New Community Radio Station: Call for Entries! –

Let’s reinvent radio! Be a part of Brooklyn’s new community internet radio station and broadcast to Brooklyn and beyond. Submit your show — at http://BBoxRadio.com/ — and contribute to the most unique voices and programming to come from this side of the bridge!

Do you love organic cooking? Golden era hip-hop? Smart kids’ music? Discussing art theory? We want you to submit your show!

BROOKLYN, NY

The winners of Dekalb Market’s “Not Just a Container” contest, BBox Radio will broadcast live (and online) from their container in downtown Brooklyn’s newest outdoor market. They are looking for fresh shows and content, and seeking out the best local talent and original ideas to fill the airwaves!

Get involved with one of New York City’s most innovative radio stations. BBox will be the catalyst, collective voice and aural archive of the creative energy developing in and around Brooklyn. BBox is about creating a new kind of station that will bring together an eclectic mix of locals: radio broadcasters, street journalists, DJs, poets, educators, advocates, artists and musicians. Music programming will represent a wide range of traditions and talents, old and new.

DJs and show hosts from all age groups and areas of Brooklyn and New York City are encouraged to submit digital entries for consideration for live shows and pre-produced podcasts. The deadline for the first round of submissions (for launch) is 11:59 on July 5th, 2011. The BBox radio container will be open along with the market on July 17, 2011, and will begin streaming online in August. Volunteer and internship positions are also available now; apply at http://BBoxRadio.com/.

After July 17th, 2011, BBox encourages applicants to visit the box and submit their application in person. Come meet the BBox team, fans and friends! For more information on how to submit your show and audio sample, go to our website at http://BBoxRadio.com/.

BBox Radio

BBox is a community internet radio station broadcasting from a Dekalb Market shipping container in downtown Brooklyn, New York. BBox serves, first and foremost, Brooklyn and New York City, but streams globally. We broadcast live, online and on-site from our box. We’re a living breathing radio station and will be open for business in late July, 2011 — come find us!

BBox is organized by a core team based in Brooklyn who are developing programs that reflect and give a true voice to the borough. BBox is made up of members who have a deep investment in community and are dedicated to presenting diverse and locally grown talent.

Dekalb Market

Dekalb Market is a new community destination coming to downtown Brooklyn’s Fulton Mall in July, 2011. The Market, housed in a collection of salvaged shipping containers, will bring together Brooklyn’s creative entrepreneurs in a community setting that will include an incubator farm, events and performance venue, and a collection of eateries and work-sell spaces. Dekalb Market endeavors to plan and operate the market within the following criteria: entrepreneurship, quality, community and sustainability. For more information, go to:www.DekalbMarket.com
