War on the Dance Floor by DJ Motion Potion

War on the Dance Floor by DJ Motion Potion

MoPo (aka Robbie Kowal) is one of America’s most versatile, experienced and flat-out joyous party rockers. His decade long mission is to ‘put the party back into the party’, and to connect the casual music fan with the hard core dance music mavens; proving that music is more than just beats. San Francisco’s bootleg indie remix partypusher, is known for a rare ability to play exactly the right music for the moment and an expertise with a wide variety of genres that he seamlessly melds into a coherent blend. Since breaking out as a rare groove Dj in the 90’s he has spent the 21st Century defining a sound he calls “Electric Nostalgia” using eclectic club styles, break beat, trip hop and tech funk as a backdrop for his genre-bending experiments.

From a near religious love of funk and hip hop, to a lifetime study of rock and roll to a massive aptitude for latin, reggae and other outernational formats, MoPo incorporates bits and pieces of music culture into electronic edits that slam the dancefloor. As a backdrop, he creates, edits or chooses only the biggest baddest breaks, hooks and drops to create a sound that truly slams. To the dancer, MoPo is a breath of fresh air, often transforming a room into collective song or crowd chant that connect the audience to the DJ.

Heartwood by Sora

Heartwood by Sora

If you’re standing in a forest, tilting your head way back to glimpse the tops of all those majestic, thickly trunked trees, it’s just impossible not to be moved by their centuries-old resilience; the stoic strength that sees them through even the harshest storms that Mother Nature can unleash. Yet locked deep within the core of each of those mighty oaks and towering sequoias is something even stronger than their outwardly impressive surface layers: the heartwood. A tree’s densest, most durable—and often most beautiful—element, the heartwood is the robust, knotty marrow that keeps it standing proud and tall for all to marvel at. And not only is Heartwood also the name of Canadian singer-songwriter Sora’s astonishing third release, it’s as well the perfect metaphor for her music: gorgeous, rich, endlessly enduring.

The Voice of Your Soul by Jimmy Philip Pillar

The Voice of Your Soul by Jimmy Philip Pillar

So I started to think about the people that came in and out of my life and decided to write honest musical statements about what had transpired. If I hurt you, I’m sorry. If you hurt me, it’s hurts. If I’ve wronged you, I’m sorry, please, I beg your pardon. Once I took music from this point of view the songs started to flow almost effortlessly.

Even So by Connie Lansberg

Even So by Connie Lansberg

CONNIE LANSBERG is a singer/songwriter who performs original Pop-Jazz and Smooth Jazz. She is a vocal interpreter of the wonderful stories told by the American Song Book and beyond. She uses her voice in such a way as to reveal and tease out even the most subtle of nuances that define these beautiful songs. Reminiscent of Blossom Dearie and June Christy, but with the modern edge of Sade and Sting, Connie Lansberg creates light and shade and sings with an unselfconscious joy that is truly infectious and enfolds the listener within the melody so that each performance is a shared experience that leaves no one out.

Connie was recently asked by an eminent Melbourne Kiniseologist to supply both her music and her voice for a series of uniquely modern meditations designed for both the Nokia and iPhone app stores. They can also be download from up coming website mobile-meditations.com
