The Silence by Shane Wilson and COLDWATER

Singer/Songwriter/Musician/Artist - I’m Shane Wilson. My band, COLDWATER, performed this song with me, recording it live then allowing me to overdub a vocal. On bass, Shawn Donahoo. Clay Martin played drums. Together as a trio we are COLDWATER.

“The Silence” - it’s not an easy song to hear or to perform because of it’s content. I wrote the tune on April 28th of this year (2011) while sitting by candlelight. My city, in fact - a large portion of West Central and North Alabama, were ravaged by the most violent and persistent string of tornadoes the country and state had seen. The aftermath was only the third national event to have the same category listing as Katrina and 911. We were safe, we received no damage….  we were damn lucky. Sitting there, what struck me the most was how quite it was - no power anywhere - intimidatingly quite - The Silence was So Loud.
