Difficultly deciding between iMac vs. Mac Mini - Home Recording

Being a college student funding will continue to be a issue for many years. I’ve been looking into an i7 Mac mini and it’s usually costing a very similar price for an iMac (with similar specs). I know maxing the RAM is a must, but I’m wondering if I should invest in a tv instead of an entire mac set up. 

Could anyone elobrate the main differences between them?

What TV would give the best pixelation for Mac Mini?

Best place to find deals on both imac and mac mini?

*this is a first blog post for me, ever* so hopefully this isn’t a topic that had been discussed to the tee.
