recordJet on a platinum flight with Milky Chance
- 300,000 units sold of the debut single “Stolen Dance”
- First platinum success for the young Berlin-based music distributor
Berlin-based music distributor recordJet is celebrating one of the greatest successes since its inception in 2008: recordJet passenger Milky Chance’s single “Stolen Dance” has reached platinum status by selling 300,000 units. On March 27, 2014, the platinum record was officially presented to recordJet by Tobias Herder, chief of Lichtdicht Records, in the cockpit bathtub. Distributor PIAS also received platinum status for Milky Chance’s success.
“It was clear to us from the outset that Lichtdicht Records and recordJet are very similar. Our approaches and concepts for success align in many areas. We are absolutely delighted with the relaxed and creative collaboration with Lichtdicht Records, and especially with Tobias Herder. We’re all certain that Milky Chance is just the beginning. On future projects, we will continue to fly side by side while remaining true to our principles of independence, fairness and authenticity”, recordJet captain Jorin Zschiesche commented on obtaining the platinum record.
Milky Chance are currently on the ascent with their second single “Down By The River”, and were also nominated for the ECHO Music Award in three categories.
About recordJet:
recordJet is a digital music distributor and content aggregator based in Berlin, helping musicians and labels to sell their music online worldwide. Music uploaded on www.recordjet.com will be distributed to mp3 stores and streaming services like iTunes and Spotify, where the music is then available for sale or for streaming. Unlike other content aggregators, recordJet pays out 100% of the royalties to the musicians which also keep all of their rights, for a small annual fee. Many additional service offerings like physical distribution into 500 shops, CD pressing and professional promotion make recordJet an allround service. recordJet was founded in 2008 with the goal to provide the European music market, especially unknown artists and small labels, with an attractive and affordable way of music distribution. recordJet went online in 2010 and has since then expanded its services continuously. 2013 the company went international with the launch of its highly anticipated English website in April and a Spanish version in December.
