Battling The Negative Voice In Your Head

Last sunday night, I was lying in my bed, it was 3am. I had, had one of the most intense weeks. It was my first week back at work, I spent the weekend catching up with old friends and I worked on finalizing some recordings I’d worked on. Sound like a familar story to you? I was exhasted. 

I remember lying there thinking about how tired I was and how much I wanted to sleep. But what was also running through my mind was band practice the next morning - and I was getting annoyed at myself becuase I wasn’t prepared. 

I told myself:

“You should cancel band practice, you need to rest and you’re unprepared. Band practice is never good if you’re unprepared.” 

But I knew that if I canceled band practice there was no way that we’ll be able to play the gig that I had coming up.

Why Are We Waiting For Failure?

I think the problem with the pop music industry is that there is so much negativity around the people that become successful. Everyone is quick to hate, Justin Beiber, Rebecca Black, One Direction, Lady Gaga. We are waiting for them to fail, to be exposed and to be brought down to their knees. Like the recent publicity around Lady Gaga who is now apparently ‘fat,’ or the numerous articles bagging out Justin Bieber for throwing up on stage. What a weird, jealous and selfish society we are living in…

Facebook Ads! Are they really that effective?

Facebook is the new black, as some would call it. As one of the biggest social networks around, getting your music out there using this network is vital. But are Facebook ads an effective way to increase your ‘fan base?’

Recent blog post by Hypebot suggested that Facebook’s ad revenue is decreasing. Karsten Weide, Vice President of Media and Entertainment at IDC stated that:

“The effectiveness of advertising on Facebook is just really terrible,” 

“Advertisers are realising that Facebook isn’t as effective as they first thought. They’re pulling their money and taking it elsewhere.”
