2012 was the year crowdfunding went mainstream. The success of Amanda Palmerʼs Kickstarter campaign threw the alternative fanfunding model into the limelight, and now most musicians are turning to their fans and friends for financial support pre-release. But what is the best crowdfunding platform for you? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each platform? Thanks to Benji at Pledge Music for clarifying that the 15% commission on money raised also includes credit card fees. The full size PDF has been updated to reflect this!

Cheers

I would hardly call Rocket Hub's formula to calculate your approximate worth a selling point. The number of people in your network X the amount you think you can raise from each one is basic math .

I take issue with labeling an "All-or-Nothing" funding model a dis-advantage. In my experience, it's the most important feature that ensures not only the success of the project but also the success of the platform n the future. When a given project fails to meet it's goal, it is very likely that if an end product is pursued at all, it runs a very high risk of disappointing it's backers. All or nothing models like Kickstarter work to ensure that project has all of the financial resources it required and that the backers money was used for the purpose it was pledged.
